Do headaches or migraines make your life miserable? Not only are they painful, but when serious the side effects can be scary. The medications available may worry you also. But, is there ant natural headache remedy? Fortunately, there are natural alternatives that are effective, smell amazing and are safe! The trick is NOT to wait; treat immediately when you feel the pain of a headache coming on.

Women are disproportionately affected by headaches than men especially as headaches are sometimes aggravated by female disorders such as menopause or menstrual cycles. These cause more or less severe pain are often unpleasant and sometimes become unbearable. They can affect your daily state of mind and contribute to a drop in concentration and intellect.

Most champions of self-medication, turn to the abuse of paracetamol and aspirin to relieve themselves. However, some a simple natural headache remedy can be just as effective and contains the huge advantage of being natural.

Peppermint essential oil

The essential oil of peppermint (Mentha x piperita), which has anesthetic and analgesic properties is an excellent remedy for these headaches. It is the most famous essential oil used against headaches, whatever their origin. To prevent headaches, you can use it with Lavender or lemon essential oil. Lavender oil has many uses and is known to exude a calming and soothing effect. For an action directly on the pain, it can be used along with the lavender essential oil. In both cases, mix four drops of each essential oil with almond oil or avocado or olive oil. Did you know that stress can also give you a headache, especially if you suffer from stress on a regular basis. Taking up and enjoying a hobby, (we love doing coloring pages with gel pens in neon or drawing) or taking up an outdoor activity and exercise are all know to help you control the onset of a headache. I’m sure you have heard it said that fresh air and drinking enough water help prevent headaches. The body lets us know when it isn’t happy!

  1. I have a lot of headaches but mostly take a pain killer for them. I will have to try this home remedy and see if it works. Most of mine are bad because of too much computer time. Thanks for the tip!

    1. Hey Jen,
      Yes, I agree too much PC time is hard on the body! I have found from experience the trick is to get any headache remedy working early. As soon as you think a headache is coming on, get up have a stretch, drink a glass of water and try the natural remedy above. I like rubbing it into my temples and back of the neck.
